Internet Safety
And I rejoice over you with singing... Zephaniah 3:17
Here are some simple ways to protect yourself online. Be sure that
you do all of these things so you can protect you and your family's
safety ;)
- Never give out your last or family name, your home address or your phone number in chat rooms, on bulletin boards, or to online pen-pals.
- Never tell anyone your password, not even a close friend. If you and that person stop being friends (and we hope you don't :)), they will always have access to your personal information and more.
- Always look at a sites privacy policy to see what they do with the information they collect from you- especially your email address and name. See Anointed Youth's Privacy policy.
- Surf the internet with your parents or at least let your parents know what sites you visit so they can check them out and make sure they are safe. If you are under 13 make sure that the site has a COPPA listing somewhere on the site or that you understand what you can and cannot do under COPPA. See Anointed Youth's COPPA.
- If a site makes you uncomfortable or asks for something you don't want to share, leave the site. We are sure there are numerous more sites with the same thing you are looking for that won't make you uncomfortable.
