Question:
Hi, I am a newish christian and i was wondering which is the best
place to start reading the bible???
thanks
Answer:
Well...you could always start at the begaining, but since you are a new christian, I would say start at the New Testement...but read whatever your spirit leads you to read. - Kemper

I agree with Kemper... anywhere is great but the best place as a new Christian would be the New Testament. I would suggest John. -Tia

"When I saw this question God brought this verse to my mind. 1 Peter
2:2,"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye
may grow thereby" King James Version
I like the way this version puts it ,"You must crave pure spiritual milk so that
you can grow into the fullness of your salvation. Cry out for this nourishment
as a baby cries for milk,"

It really does not matter where you start read, just as long as you start. The
only way we grow as Christians is through reading the Bible. I suggest starting
in the New Testament simply because that is where we get the majority of our
Christian teaching and principles. However, the Old Testament is still important
to read as a new Christian. Some people get confused when we say Old and New
testaments. The Old Testament is the first half of the Bible from Genesis to
Malachi, which is before the coming of Jesus Christ and the New Testament is
from Matthew to Revelation and tells of Jesus, the start of the Christian Church,
Christian teaching and the end of time.
My personal recommendation would be The Gospel of John, the Psalms and anywhere
else the Lord lays on your heart. I do not recommend praying and then opening
your Bible to whatever page it falls on,read that page and closeing the Bible
calling that your Bible reading for the day. Not very practical. Start in a book
and be consistent until you finish that book, then move to something else.. "

O yes John and Psalms are my favorites, I actually bought a small
study guide on John because it's a really great book to study, and
I think That's a great place for you to start reading as well!....
I agree though, it dosnt matter "where" you begin to read, just that you try
your hardest to read it often as you can is all that matters, I promise It will
be an adventure worth taking. Reading the bible is far from a chore, it's the
best book you'll ever read (I promise), and I'm very happy you chose to read
it, GOOD FOR YOU!! Why
wouldnt you want to learn more about your savior?
You should ask God's help in selecting a starting point, He will be able to help.
You can and should put all your trust and love in him, when something confuses
you while reading ask for his help, or maybe you have a question about something,
God is always right there with you reading, rember that, and He will help you
through the journey. God loves everyone of us, He IS love. Once you read his
word you get to know him better, and he will help change and "mold" your life
to what he wants. It makes him very happy to see youve made the decision to give
your life to him, and now you're beginning to read the bible! Always keep your
faith, trust, and love for him, those are the most important things. Always.
When I first started reading the bible more often, God led me to writing all
the books names each on a different line of a paper and than cutting each off
and putting them in a container and randomly drawing one each time I completed
a book, It lead me to books I hadnt known even existed at the time, and they
were excelent reads.
I'll pray for you beginning your adventure into faith, and the word. It's a great
feeling knowing God's disiples are multiplying
Hope I helped some
Love,
Your sister In Christ -Tina
